Springing Ahead!

Robin McConaughy

Spring is here and that means Easter is not far off (April 21). For Double Brook pastured meats and all kinds of delicious fare, please see our EASTER MENU from the Brick Farm Market (online order form on website) or make a reservation at the Brick Farm Tavern for our special Fire Roasted celebration. And please remember that the Tavern and Market are OPEN during the bridge construction!

It's almost lambing season and activities on the farm are ramping up. First of all, the warmer weather incites all kinds of egg-laying momentum from our pastured hens.

And there are piglets abound!  Can you count how many Ossabaw piglets are in this litter?

We are throwing down the last of the hay we've stored up since winter as the grass grows greener.

And there is always time for some scratches and snuggles.

Mostly, we are all ready to be outside. Well, almost all. Cisco seems to be pretty cozy…maybe just one more wintry nap.

Edible Jersey – Q&A With Jon & Robin McConaughy

Can a magazine article change your life? In the case of Jon and Robin McConaughy, one at least jump-started a directional change for them and their young family that led to their establishing Double Brook Farm in Hopewell in 2004. The article was Power Steer by Michael Pollan, best known ...

Sheep Are Finally On The Spring Grass

The day finally arrived! We prepared to let the flock loose on the spring grass for the first time this year. And out they went… The action was very much like a crowded escalator when one person stops at the bottom as the first sheep (literally) out of the gate ...
