Welcome 2025!

Well, that was a doozy. There were droughts, eclipses, drones, turkey breakouts, escaped dogs, and orphaned puppies. But we roll into 2025 with a renewed sense of purpose to serve our community and provide the highest quality, humanely raised meats around.

**Please note, the market at Ottoburger will be reopening January 20th, with some changes and updates – STAY TUNED. If you need anything in the meantime – and, of course, if you need a whole animal share or large order filled – reach out to us at info@doublebrookfarm.com.

Back on the farm – I will admit, bottle feeding 5 puppies from 1 day old was a marathon. Jon and I both tapped into that decades-old sensation of having newborns and simultaneously having no sleep. We were sad for Vera, the mother of the pups who died a day after giving birth, but were immediately in crisis mode to help the puppies survive.

They were brought in from the barn, cold and weak…

…and nurtured to where they are now: 6 weeks old and happy as clams. There were many people who helped tremendously in this effort – freinds, family, vets – and we cannot thank them enough.

Soon, we will pair them with an older dog who will show them the ropes and teach them how to be ‘dogs'. Which will be hard for us because they have been our pets until now. And they are so darn cute. But they will be happy doing what they were born to do.

For now, we are enjoying the snow, doing the chores, snuggling puppies, and waiting out the cold.

A happy and prosperous New Year to you and yours.
