We have been muddling through these scorchers keeping the animals shaded and watered, and mostly, trying to get the hay up off the ground before it rains.
Farm animals are not like us. They don't try to get a round of tennis in before it hits 95 – and they do not rush.
There is a whole lot of meeting up at the watering hole and poking around for a better spot in the shade.
The pigs have their huts and wallows. And midday is a time to just stop moving if they can help it.
Although, when we let the turkeys out on pasture for the first time last week, they were more than happy to fly in all directions and take in the sun. But this week for sure, they are laying low.
At the end of these sultry days, a trip to pick cherries gives us a great excuse to stay inside and make sweet stuff.
