Something Cool Is Happening at the Farm

Double Brook Farm is serving as a testing ground for an exciting new technology that has already added comfort for our animals: cooling panels that can be plugged in anywhere.

The pigs are wild for them!

The technology, called Clearly Cool, was developed through a partnership with AIL Research, Inc. and the Princeton CHAOS Lab. Clearly Cool is a cooling panel that absorbs heat. Mounted above animals (or humans!), it uses a scant 85W per panel to absorb radiant heat. We do not have to plumb this apparatus – only plug it into a standard 120V outlet.

Read all about it here: Clearly Cool.

This sow will tell you that producing milk for piglets takes a lot of energy – and the cooling panel is just the ticket.

We find this technology exciting and timely, as our summers get hotter and hotter.
