Animal Shares And Large Orders

Buy Our Pastured Meats Direct To Stock Up And Save Money!

Below you'll find some great tips to help you get you started on the benefits and “how-to’s” of ordering a whole animal share and large orders.

Meat types available for animal shares and large orders include pork, lamb, turkey, and chicken.

What Is AN Animal Share?

When you buy a share of a pig or lamb, either a whole or a 1/2, you are getting all of the cuts – packaged and frozen – from the animal. The price you pay will include processing at our on-farm USDA inspected facility and the meat cut to the specifications you select on your cut sheet & order form (clicking the link will prompt you to download the PDF form to your computer.)

The price will also include additional value-added options such as sausages (pork), bacon (pork), and ground meat (pork & lamb).

NOTE: All meat will be frozen. However, if you'd rather pick it up fresh, please call ahead at (609) 466-3594 to arrange it. Only exception is sausage; all sausage will be frozen.

What Is A Large Order?

Chickens, turkeys, bulk sausage, and raw dog food can be ordered under our ‘Large Orders’ format and will be frozen. Chickens will be whole birds, with a minimum order of 5. Turkeys will be cut and packaged (not whole) with a minimum order based on specific cuts.

Bulks sausage will come in 1 lb packages with a minimum of 10 lbs per flavor. Raw dog food will come in 2 lb chub bags with a minimum order of 10 lbs (5 bags.)

How Do I Order?

Placing an order and schedule your pickup is as easy as 1, 2, 3. Click here for instructions.

How Does The Pricing Work?
How Many Pounds Of Meat Will I Get?

The share price is a per pound calculation based on ‘hot hanging weight,' which is the weight of the animal after slaughter and evisceration – this is the industry standard.

The price of all large orders is a straight per pound calculation based on the weight on the take home meat.

Pastured Meats

A typical pig will yield about 155-165 lbs of meat. A typical lamb will yield about 30-35 lbs of meat.
If you take everything (trotters, skin, fat, head, heart, jowl, etc.) you will have more poundage.

No Antibiotics Or Hormones

What Cuts Do I Get From The Share?

The cut sheet & order form will go into specifics, but you can expect that your order will include all the cuts from the animal, including the lesser-known cuts and ground meat.

When you fill out your cut sheet & order form, you can select certain value-added products made from the meat such as sausage and bacon.

You can also select what items you do not want included, if any. For example, some customers would rather not have the trotters of the pig or the giblets of the turkey.

How Long Will It Take To Get My Order Filled?

Because Double Brook Farm has one of the very few on-farm USDA inspected slaughterhouses in the country, we can control our slaughter schedule.

Timing from order to pickup could be in as little as 2 weeks. Once your cut sheet & order form (clicking the link will prompt you to download the PDF form to your computer,) along with your online deposit, has been received, we'll set a schedule and pickup date that works for you.

How Will The Meat Be Packaged And How Much Freezer Space Do I Need?

All of the meat except for chickens – which will be whole – will be cut and packaged according to the specifications on your cut sheet.

All meat will be frozen. However, if you'd rather pick it up fresh, call please call ahead to arrange it. Only exception is sausage; all sausage will be frozen.

For quantity, figure on 1 cubic foot (the size of a milk crate) of space for every 25 lbs of meat. Chickens, turkeys, and dog food will be straightforward based on the quantity you order.

Non-GMO Feed

For your convenience, we do offer freezer storage for a fee. For $35.00 we'll store your order, or any portion thereof, in our freezer for up to 3 months.

Where Do I Pick Up?

You will pick up your order at our second farm location at 37 Bayberry Road in Princeton.

We can’t wait to share our premium meats with you – so let's get started by placing your order today!
