Now that summer is in full swing, it’s time to get down to some real R&R. That means loitering about a body of water trying to achieve a melanin density that will carry you through November at least. And cooking all that’s fresh.
This little still-life took me all but 15 minutes to pick and assemble…
Then another 10 minutes to become an other-worldly Greek salad. By the way, if you are at the Brick Farm Market and happen to purchase an innocent-looking habanero or two, let me be the first to warn you (from recent experience) to wear gloves while cutting and to tread lightly. They are atomic.
Another highlight of the past week on the farm (aside from some serious entertainment on Cruise Night night – names withheld, but some pictures may follow! – and one farmer’s milestone birthday) has been the break in the weather. Animals and farmers are so much happier now that they are not running for cover all day.
Even though the sunflowers are looking for the sun, we were all happy for the cloud cover and a little breeze!
