It’s Turkey Time!

First, a PSA – we will be at the Hopewell Harvest Fair TODAY (Saturday, September 19) if you would like to ask us questions in person about our turkeys or our products. Plus, we will be selling all of our delicious meats, sausages, bacon – and even some swag – at our booth today. The fair is located at the Hopewell Elementary School and the hours are 9:45am-4:00pm. See you there!

Ok, now for the lead… We are taking orders for our pastured heritage turkeys staring NOW. To place your order – please click HERE.

This year we are doing things a bit differently. We are taking the orders directly and pick up will be from our farm at 37 Bayberry Road in Princeton (not the market in Hopewell). We can't wait to welcome you to our farm and hand you your Thanksgiving turkey.

A few details: we will only be taking deposits for whole turkeys and and reservations for turkey breasts (limited). When you arrive to pick up your bird, we will have other meats available for purchase, such as sausage, bacon, and cuts of chicken, beef, pork, and lamb.

As usual, select the size range you need, and the date you'd like to pick up before you make your deposit or reservation. These birds are a natural product and we will try to get as close as possible to the desired size on your pickup day.

What makes a Double Brook Farm turkey special? Our heritage turkeys are bred, hatched, and raised here on our farm on pasture without antibiotics or hormones. They are a cross of Spanish Black and Bronze breeds and roam free to roost in the trees and forage for bugs, grasses, seeds, and whatever else they can dig up and peck at. Their foraged diet is supplemented with a non-GMO grain blend raised for us by local farmers. This natural lifestyle creates a healthy bird with with the best flavor you can find. The meat is juicy and tender and we guarantee your Thanksgiving revelers will taste the difference.

Wild and wacky stuff happening today at the farm. First, an early morning breakout of horses from a neighboring farm, and then a discovery of pounds of hen of the woods mushrooms. A lot of people ask how our animals are doing in this cold. While it is very frigid, the animals actually do much better in these temperatures than when it’s extremely hot. They have plenty of hay to burrow down in, and wind breaks and shelters. We check them at least twice a day to make sure their water is not frozen and that they are in good shape. Hopefully a couple more days of this deep freeze and then we can move into some balmy 20s and 30s #deepfreeze #farmlife #winterfarm #pasturedlamb #greatpyrenees #heritageturkeys
Wondering when this winter wonderland will give way to solid ground…
