Sneaking behind the pigs and past the chickens…I planned to take advantage of wineberry season in full effect! But first, I came upon something completely unexpected in the forest…

Double Brook Farm - Harvesting Wineberries in the ForestNot to worry…this picture was taken from afar and the mother robin was off in the woods. Plus, there was no time to linger – this is wineberry season (which is too say, there are literally just days to pick these sweet and tart morsels)!

Double Brook Farm - Harvesting Wineberries in the ForestI suspect the reason these are not grown commercially is that they fall off the bush when ripe, and have to be pried off amid prickers when not ripe.

Another turkey harvest in the books! It was a HUGE push but our staff, volunteers, and seasonal guys made is so much fun. A big thanks to everyone who helped (including those who walked dogs and delivered turkeys 🦃!). The biggest this year was 27+ pounds!
