Full Moon and Turkeys in the Tall Grass

Double Brook FarmSo it was a full moon the other night and this is what we found on the patio. Not sure what this Praying Mantis is doing – but I like to think it’s praying to the full moon…for RAIN!

Double Brook FarmJon and I went over to the turkey enclosure to let the group out for the day. Jon decided to mow some paths for the turkeys who get intimidated by the high weeds grass around the barn. So out came the mower.

Double Brook FarmBut the turkeys took a little coaxing to get out into the ‘wild’, even though they were desperate to get at all the succulent grasshoppers and grubs in the freshly cut greenery.

Double Brook FarmBut boy are they curious! As soon as Jon walked over to the turkeys and then walked back down the path, there was no stopping them.

Double Brook FarmWe will be taking turkeys orders soon at Brick Farm Market, so stay tuned. In the meantime, these birds will be fattening up on land…
