We went over to check on the laying birds and their guardian, Kasey. Can you see Kasey barking his head off under the chicken wagon in the picture above?
The chickens were happily picking away at the seeds in the grass and scratching around in the dirt underneath.
Every once in a while, we’d see a lone bird or two far, far away from the madding crowd.
But for the most part, the chickens are social, curious animals – always ready for their close up. Or a photo bomb.
As usual, Kasey begs for, and receives, a good scratch, How could you resist? Chickens again, in the mix to see what’s happening…
Then it’s back to work for the chickens and Kasey. And us, presumably!
This time of year, the chickens lay more than any other. They love the heat, the daily fresh grass, and the protection they get from the dog. And we love eating the eggs. It’s a win-win!
