A Visit With the Mules

Talk about your Government Mules! Bella and Sassy have been our guard mules for a few years now and we originally adopted them from the Bureau of Land Management.  They do a great job, even though they look like they do nothing. All photos are by our neighbor and farm-mule enthusiast, Molly Schneider (thank you, Molly!).

The girls were really glamming it up for this photos shoot.

Mostly, they pretend not to notice you or anything else for that matter.  Unless you have treats. Then they will have their nose in your bag, investigating pickets and trying to probe under your shirt. But they do keep the foxes and coyotes away.  I'm convinced it's more because they don't like all the running around when a predator gets in then an actual sense of duty.

Right now they have been relocated from our large flock to a neighbor's small flock which has had some predator issues. Good girls!

Busy Farmers and Farm Markets
