We are so sad to report of the loss of one of our longest-tenured employees at Double Brook Farm: Winona ‘Boo' Frye, who passed away in February.
The expression, “They just don't make 'em like they used to” applies 100%. Boo came to the farm in 2011 to help out with the accumulating stacks of mail and tasks that never seemed to get done. She filed, sorted mail, acted as cashier during our farm sales, ran errands and even went to Motor Vehicles to register farm trucks with a smile on her face and always a story to report. But I suspect what made her happiest was to feed treats to the dogs and then try to shoo them away while she was filing.
Boo never failed to ask about family, offer words of encouragement and to share stories of her own children, and especially grandchildren. Our son Drew still wears the hat she gave him from the original 1980 Lake Placid Olympics as his lucky hockey hat.
Boo spread happiness and warmth wherever she went and she will be sorely missed and fondly remembered.
