Now that we’re full-time farmers, we watch the Weather Channel like it’s Game 7 of the Stanley Cup Finals. And this past week has been a winner! It seems like everything is blooming at once, including allergies…
One of the things that was new to us as we learned how to raise animals: chickens do not like to lay eggs in the cold weather. Especially the breeds that are from warmer climes. And both layers and broilers will convert almost every morsel of food they eat to grow feathers (not eggs or meat).
But…now that it’s warmer, they are laying everywhere!
Brett can barely keep up as the girls are nestling and laying all over the place – in the chicken wagon, on the ground, in his ATV!!
And the chickens are hungry. Check out this scene with Kasely’s food. As if they don’t have enough food in their wagon!
Every time Kasey looks around, the chickens move in…
Brett had to give Kasey some love for being so restrained.
You might ask, ‘where’s Bea?’ She is with the sheep who are JUST starting to lamb. There will be plenty of pictures to come!
